She actively seeks out and records marks and fleeting traces on the ever changing landscape. Christchurch city is currently undergoing massive demolition and rebuild phase after earthquakes five years ago and therefore a very poignant and inspirational place for Jane.

Regeneration Mandala at First Thursdays Event with Form Gallery

First Thursdays is an event when local businesses open their doors to creativity and invite the public to visit, see and interact. Jane McCulla has created a "one off" transient Land Art, Regeneration Mandala for the day. It is constructed from 1000 hand made porcelain bud forms made on the pottery wheel. Public are invited to take a bud form as a gift to symbolise the regrowth of Christchurch city after the devastating earthquakes in 2011.

Koji Miyazaki owner of Form Gallery and Stephen Robertson, a potter from Nelson selected the exhibition. Work from 60 potters and ceramic artists were submitted and pieces from 40 were selected. The exhibition showcases functional and non functional work from over NZ. Jane had two pieces selected.

A detail of Jane's piece was featured on the cover of the exhibition catalogue and her piece was purchased by The Portage Awards Collection.

Rick Rudd, renowned NZ potter selected this years Canterbury Fired Up 2013 Jane was presented with the Cobcraft Premier Award on opening night for her work, "Mythic Voyager". This biennial exhibition was postponed from last year due to ongoing effects of the earthquakes over the past two years. The exhibition is open to potters from the Canterbury / Westland regions of NZ.

Jane was presented a Merit Award for the "Panorama Tread" series of ceramic pieces inspired by her location in historic Lyttelton Harbour and the coastal walks in the area.

Jane's work will be showcased for the month of April in the main lobby and gift shop area of the main Stormount Parliament Building. The public are encouraged to visit the building and there are tours available on booking.

Jane McCulla will be working collaboratively with Clive Little to develop works incorporating clay and willow for this exhibition. Other artist members of the Ards Arts Collective will be exhibiting what promises to be a highly experimental and exciting range of arts and crafts employing various materials and techniques. Diaries of their collaborations will be on display for the public to peruse.
