Glimpse Vessels
These thrown, altered vessels were inspired by everyday glimpses through hedgerows and boundaries on the rural Ards Peninsula, Co. Down, N.I. Ever changing light over Strangford Lough, the Irish Sea and rolling Drumlins never cease to be a constant inspiration.

Construction
Stoneware clay, thrown on the wheel with porcelain slip applied and then altered by gentle hand. Influenced by the ancient Japanese Bizen firing technique, each vessel is wrapped and tied with salt soaked straw with added cobalt carbonate. The vessels are then stacked in the kiln using clam shells as buffers and gas reduction fired to 1280 °C.

Approximate Dimensions
