Rhythmic Traces
These stoneware sculptural forms are inspired by remote landscapes and seascapes, arial photographic imagery of the earth, Aboriginal rock carvings, early cave drawings and imprints on the ground of man's presence. They are both microcosmic and macrocosmic, drawing the viewer in to consider every intricate detail.

Construction
Hand built textured stretched clay forms, placed in clay cradles to slowly dry. Multiple glazes are applied and rubbed off to enhance the surface textures, then fired to 1260 °C. Small thumbpots containing salt are placed at strategic points in the kiln and fragments of beach glass are placed to melt and run during the firing. Each piece is individual and a result of the artist's intuitive practice combined with the serendipity of the gas reduction firing process.

Approximate Dimensions
56cm x 62cm x 11cm
